Joey Blevins is an Art Teacher as well as accidental painter working in Southwest Virginia with a focus and respect for process, curiosity, and above all, a fair bit of merrimaking and mischief. However, thanks to an obsession with diverting his attention to more important matters (anything other than grading), Blevins often finds himself dabbling with a variety of art media and concepts in his day to day routine.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Art Education from the now closed and incinerated Virginia Intermont College, Blevins moved right to the instructional side of the professional art world, first working with the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Virginia as one of their Van Gogh Instructors delivering art lessons across the rural landscapes and coal fields of surrounding counties, before settling in a more permanent role at his alma mater, Chilhowie High School, in 2015. The whole journey so far, asking himself, “How do I do this?”

“20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
