compart_MENTALIZE
Oil on 45 Individual 4x4" Canvas, 2025
compart_mentalize is a self-portrait in oil, composed of fourty-five 4x4” squares, completed over the course of fourty-five days. Emotion, intimacy, vulnerability, and process play a major role in the creation of this portrait, with each square representing a different day and aspect of the self. The portrait reflects subtle shifts in mood, technique, and process with the resulting image being as cohesive as it is fragmented. It reveals the truth that some days are better than others. The result being a slightly unsettling and confrontational portrait that not only captures the self, but the journey of self-observation – a continuous thread of self-examination across time.
"The object isn't to make art, it's to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable."
-Robert Henri
